At the end of the year Aerodata has been contracted by Flight Calibration Services GmbH (FCS) for the modernization of the Automatic Flight Inspection System AD-AFIS-220 installed in a King Air 350.
The AD-AFIS-220 has been in operation since 2009 and has gathered about 10.000 flight hours within this period. The aim of this modernization is the harmonization of this AFIS with the new AD-AFIS-220NG of the next generation as installed in the newer FCS aircraft delivered in the year 2019.
The AFIS will be upgraded with a new set of flight inspection receivers, a new Multi-Constellation GNSS receiver, new computers and new software. The aircraft avionics will be enhanced with the traffic detection and collision avoidance system FLARM. FLARM operates in addition to TCAS and provides traffic information about other FLARM equipped aircraft which typically do not have transponders, such as gliders, microlight aircraft but also obstacles.
