Research network
We maintain a fruitful cooperation with the Carolo-Wilhelmina University of Technology in Braunschweig. There are joint projects, particularly in co-operation with the institutes of aerospace engineering. Aerodata provides lecturers, offers internships for students and supervises student research projects and dissertations.
Braunschweig Research Airport is an initiative to promote Braunschweig as a centre of technology. The merger of research institutions, industry and authorities has created a centre of excellence for future technologies in aviation, safety in air traffic and the certification of safety-critical applications. The expertise of other institutions and companies will further strengthen the innovative power of the location in the future.
DLR is the aeronautics and space research centre of the Federal Republic of Germany. Its extensive research and development work in aeronautics, space, energy and transport is carried out in co-operation with national and international partners. Activities at the DLR site in Braunschweig are focussed on the business areas of aeronautics and transport. At Braunschweig-Wolfsburg Airport, DLR continues the tradition of the German Aeronautics Research Centre (DFL), which was founded in 1936, with around 1200 highly qualified employees.
