After the successful completion of the mid-life upgrade for the mission systems of two King Air B200 maritime surveillance aircraft in 2022/2023, the Armed Forces of Malta have now signed a contract for the third aircraft which was originally delivered by Aerodata as prime contractor back in 2017.
The upgrade will replace obsolete components in the mission systems and will also provide enhanced sensor capabilities – project completion is scheduled for June 2025.
The project is partially funded through the Border Management and Visa Instrument (BMVI) (2021-27) as part of the Integrated Border Management Fund and it is co-financed with 80% from EU funds and 20% from the Maltese Government.
