Braunschweig – Boris Pistorius visited Aerodata AG’s premises in Braunschweig, along with Dr Thorsten Kornblum. During his visit, Pistorius learnt about the company’s capabilities and solutions in the field of airborne surveillance and reconnaissance, as well as the protection of critical infrastructure. Pistorius and Kornblum were accompanied by the two members of the state parliament, Julia Retzlaff and Annette Schütze.
“It is impressive to see the technological expertise that Aerodata, as a ‘hidden champion’, has built up here in Braunschweig,” said Pistorius.
The discussion focused on the importance of national and European capabilities in airborne reconnaissance, key security-related technologies, and the role of the German defence industry in the face of growing security challenges.
“Germany needs high-performance and reliably available airborne reconnaissance capabilities,” emphasises Neset Tükenmez, Chief Executive of Aerodata AG. “As a regional capability provider, we develop technologies that protect critical infrastructure, provide situational awareness and safeguard security-related expertise within our own country. Long-term investment in innovation and development is also crucial to this.”
With decades of experience, Aerodata specialises in the development and implementation of airborne solutions for maritime reconnaissance and land surveillance. The company has supplied more than 60 mission systems and reconnaissance aircraft to government organisations worldwide, including naval, coastguard and air force units. With the AeroForce X, Aerodata is the first medium-sized company in Germany to develop a MALE-class unmanned aerial system for long-endurance surveillance and reconnaissance missions. The manned prototype was unveiled to the public for the first time in August. The project contributes significantly to strengthening security-related expertise, technological sovereignty and independent national capabilities.
